The Classic Rolex Divers watch, the 16600 was discontinued by Rolex in 2008 and was replaced by the larger DeepSea.
In 2014 the Ceramic Sea-Dweller 4000 was finally released after a long period of having no 'Classic' Sea-Dweller in the Rolex divers range, though with its ceramic bezel and thicker lugs it still didn't quite have that fully classic look of the 16600 and after only a short production run was also discontinued in 2017 with the release of the Sea-Dweller 'Red Writing' 50th Anniversary. Having a larger case and controversial Cyclops lens this has left fans and collectors alike yearning for that original look that we have all grown to love.
