This is the second of the Speedy Tuesday Limited Editions, released in 2018 to celebrate the anniversary of the original ‘Ultraman’ Speedmaster from 1968.
Ultraman is an iconic Japanese character from the TV series of the same name launched in 1966 by Tsuburaya Productions. Part of the highly popular Kaiju (strange beast) monster genre of Japanese film and televison. In the show, Ultraman is a benevolent alien superbeing who co-inhabits the body of a human and has the ability to transform into the giant-sized, super-powered Ultraman to battle monsters threatening the Earth.
In the 1971 series The Return of Ultraman the monster attack team can be seen with an Omega Speedmaster ref. 145.012-67 but with specially fitted Orange chrono hand. After much speculation it was finally confirmed decades later that these watches actually were produced by Omega with the Orange hand. Making the original Ultraman Speedmaster a highly collectable piece.

The Speedy Tuesday tribute Ultraman takes several vintage design cues from the original. Featuring a Dot over 90 bezel, stepped dial, applied logo and of course that Orange hand.
On its original release the watch Sold Out in less than 15 minutes making it one of the most sought after modern Speedmasters.
