BREITLING
Chronomat
8808
Chrono-Matic
A rare example of the 8808 Chronomat with its originally ‘Intended’ squared hands.
It is far more common to see this watch with slim Navitimer hands due to the 1970s crisis that was happening at the time of production and Breitling most likely fitting parts they had available.
Whilst the slim hands are still deemed correct, it is particularly nice to see a piece that has the squared hands and central red chrono hand as depicted in the adverts and catalogues of the period.
The Chronomat with its rotating slide rule was first patented in 1941 offering an engineering and mathematical tool for the wrist.
It is becoming increasingly rare to find correct examples of the later 1970s pieces like this reference 8808.
